Essential survival includes fundamental needs such as food, clothing, shelter, and medical care. Progress is defined by access to education and employment opportunities. These critical necessities guide our projects and initiatives, enabling us to enhance the quality of life for the communities we support. Our mission offers award-winning medical facilities and programs to the Malagasy people in South Madagascar. Each month our clinic in the city of Toliara services approximately 3,000 people, many of whom wait outside the clinic overnight to receive care the following day. We provide a wide range of healthcare services completely free of charge, including consultations, medications, radiology, pathology, and optometry.
In South Madagascar, many infants suffer from the adverse affects of malnutrition. Malnutrition can severely impact the growth and development of a child and in many cases leads to death . Our mission runs a dedicated milk supplement program which is aimed at providing essential nutrients to vulnerable children. By supplying high-quality milk supplements, we help combat malnutrition and support healthy growth, ensuring that every child has the chance to thrive. Together, we can make a significant difference in the lives of these children and their families.
In a region of South Madagascar, due to a myth past down from previous generations, twin children confront a tragic reality if they are not separated at birth. Fortunately, many separated twins find refuge at our mission's halfway house, where they receive critical care and support. To mitigate the high incidence of infant deaths in this area our mission has recently finalised the construction of a new orphanage, ready to serve as a safe refuge for these at-risk children. We are now awaiting government approval to officially launch child welfare services to abandoned and orphaned children and help deliver them a promising future in a secure and nurturing environment.
The lack of educational facilities in southern Madagascar poses significant challenges to the country's development. Many children are unable to access quality education, which restricts their potential for personal advancement and future employment opportunities. This educational disparity not only impacts the lives of the children but also impedes the overall progress of communities and the nation as a whole. Addressing this critical issue is essential for cultivating a more educated and skilled population, which is vital for sustainable development. Over the past fives years the Diocese has built, and currently manages, 9 schools. Seven thousand students are paving their way forward to a brighter future for themselves and their country.

In South Madagascar, the challenge of limited access to clean water significantly impacts the daily lives of the local population. The construction of water wells is crucial for survival, as they provide a dependable source of clean water for both drinking and sanitation purposes. Our mission is dedicated to constructing these essential water wells to address the needs of the people most effectively. Additionally, in regions where drilling is not viable our mission facilitates the distribution of clean water via a mobile water tanker to ensure that all communities have access to this vital resource.
The Malagasy people in south Madagascar are lacking vital survival resources which includes food and clothing, significantly impacting their daily lives. Fortunately, generous donors from the western world have stepped in, shipping containers from Greece and Cyprus to provide much-needed supplies. This support aims to alleviate the pressing concerns of the population, helping them to access essential resources. The solidarity shown by these donors underscores the importance of global cooperation in times of crisis.
Our mission operates a vital feeding program for prisoners in South Madagascar. The program aims to improve the living conditions of the prisoners by ensuring they receive adequate nutrition. This initiative addresses the severe challenges of food scarcity within the prison system, providing meals that are essential for health and well-being. By focusing on nutrition, the program not only supports the physical needs of prisoners but also fosters a sense of dignity and care within a challenging environment. Through these efforts, our mission strives to make a positive impact on the lives of those incarcerated.
Our Orthodox Mission is dedicated to strengthening communities by building schools, medical facilities, welfare centres and places of worship. We have recognised the vital importance of these facilities as through these initiatives we have created environments that have assisted in promoting the development and well-being of the Malagasy people. These programs aim to ensure that individuals and families have access to essential resources and services whilst assisting in uplifting and empowering communities towards a promising future.
